Preliminary Communications. Brief descriptions of important innovative developments will be considered for preliminary publication.

Review Articles. Updates on progress in the main field of Drug Resistance/Sensitivity Gene Therapy, Tumor Suppressor and Anti-Oncogene Therapy, Cytokine/Tumor Immunotherapy, etc.

Industry Perspective. Descriptions of the newest technology being developed in the corporate sector.

Letters to the Editor. Brief comments on articles published in the Journal or other information of interest to our readers.

Manuscripts are considered for publication with the understanding that they have not been published previously and are not under consideration by another publication. Authors should provide in a cover letter the name, address, telephone number and fax numbers of the corresponding author. Authors are encouraged to suggest the names of possible reviewers and to indicate the names of individuals who may not be able to provide an unbiased review. Authors should describe any affiliations or financial arrangements with any company whose product appears prominently in the manuscript or with any company making a competing product. Such information will be kept in confidence while the paper is under review and will not influence the editorial decision. If the article is accepted for publication, the editor will discuss with the authors the manner in which this information will be communicated to the reader.

Copyright. Authors will be asked before publication to assign the world copyright of their manuscript to Nature Publishing Group. Therefore, all manuscripts submitted must be accompanied by a signed statement that the article is original, is not under consideration or has not been previously published elsewhere, and its contents have not been anticipated by any previous publication. Authors will be entitled to publish any part of their paper elsewhere without permission, provided the usual acknowledgments are given. The assignment of copyright will not affect subsisting patent rights or arrangements relating to them. Submission of a manuscript will be taken to imply that authors have obtained permission from their employers or institution to publish, if they have a contractual or moral obligation to do so.

Permissions. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission from the author and publisher for the use of quotes, illustrations, tables, and other materials taken from previously published works not in the public domain. The letters of permission should accompany the manuscript. The original source should be mentioned in the figure caption or table footnote.

MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION
All manuscripts should be typed, double-spaced on one side of the paper only. An original and 4 copies, each accompanied by artwork, should be submitted.

Cancer Gene Therapy encourages the submission of articles on computer diskettes. All diskettes must be accompanied by 4 paper copies of the manuscript, as specified above. Label diskettes with the following information: (1) author’s name, (2) article title, (3) software and hardware utilized. Diskettes (either 3.5 or 5.25 inch) may be produced on IBM, IBM-compatible, Apple, or Wang computers. Authors using Apple computers should not use the “Fast Save” option.

Title Page. In addition to the title, this page should include the full name, highest academic degree obtained, and affiliation for each author. Also indicate which author should be the corresponding author and provide full address and phone and fax numbers. Please include a running title limited to 50 characters and provide up to 6 key words applicable to the content of the manuscript.

Text. For style information and lists of standard abbreviations, consult the American Medical Association Manual of Style, 8th ed. (Baltimore, MD, Williams & Wilkins, 1989). Use metric units throughout the manuscript. The first time an abbreviation appears, it should be preceded by the words for which it stands. For original research articles and case reports, the text should be presented in the following order: Abstract (less than 200 words), Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, References, Tables, Figures.

References and Notes. Only papers closely related to the authors’ work should be quoted. References and notes should be numbered sequentially as they appear in the text, tables, and figures, and they should be compiled at the end of the article in the order of text citation. List a reference only one time. Abbreviations for titles of periodicals should conform to those used in the latest edition of Index Medicus. References should include authors’ last names and initials, article title, journal, volume, page, and year. Include the city and publisher’s name for books. For further information, consult the American Medical Association Manual of Style:

Tables. These should be labeled sequentially as Table 1, Table 2, etc. Each table should be typed on a separate page, numbered, titled, and cited in the text. Reference to table footnotes should be made by means of Arabic numerals.

Figures. Photographs and line drawings should also be labeled sequentially, numbered, and cited in the text. Photographs should be professionally prepared glossy prints. Line drawings should be in black ink on white paper. The author’s name should appear on the reverse side of each figure. Symbols, lettering, and numbering should be clear and large enough to be legible after the figure has been reduced. Figure legends should be typewritten (double-spaced) on a separate sheet. Color figures may be included in an article if the author is willing to help defray the printing and color separation costs. Charges to the author for color figures are estimated at $1,000 for the first page of color and $500 for each additional page. The publisher will confirm these costs with the author upon receipt of the manuscript and figures.

Proofing. The author will have the opportunity to review and approve page proofs of an accepted article before it is published. To be included, all corrections must be kept to a minimum and returned by the deadline provided. The Publisher reserves the right to charge authors for corrections in excess of 10%.

Offprints. Offprints may be ordered on the form accompanying the proofs.

Copyright Transfer. Following submission, the corresponding author will receive a Copyright Transfer Form. This form must be signed by each of the authors and returned to the Journal office before publication of the manuscript.
